Consultancy in Paediatrics combined with a clinical professorship in Paediatrics (endocrinology) with special focus on the use of technology in control and treatment of diabetes

A clinical position as consultant of Paediatrics at Børne Unge Steno, Department of Paediatrics, Copenhagen University Hospital - Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen is open for appointment as soon as possible.

The position is combined with a 5-year externally funded position as clinical professor of Paediatrics (endocrinology) with special focus on the use of technology in control and treatment of diabetes at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.

It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and the consultancy.

About Copenhagen University Hospital - Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen (SDCC)

The Diabetes Clinic at SDCC offers outpatient treatment and consultancy services to patients with all subtypes of diabetes at all ages. The clinical functions for this position will be in the paediatric team (Børne Unge Steno).

The Clinical Research Department at SDCC covers a broad range of research fields, the present position concerns the use of technology in control and treatment of diabetes in treatment of diabetes in children and adolescences.

 

Clinical functions and focus areas of the department

The consultant’s functions will be treating children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes with special focus on implementing research-based use of diabetes technology and supporting clinical research challenging current standard care within the area in close collaboration with Børne Unge Steno team leaders.

 

Research and teaching

With this new position as consultant at Børne Unge Steno and clinical professor of Paediatrics (endocrinology) with special focus on the use of technology in control and treatment of diabetes Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen wishes to strengthen leadership in clinical research and teaching.

 

Qualifications

Applicants must be board-certified specialist in Paediatrics.

 

Conditions

In order to be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the professorship) and to the hospital (the consultancy) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the applicants who are already employed as consultants at Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen.

Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region/Region Zealand and University of Copenhagen.

As clinical professor at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g., research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work in agreement with the heads of Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen / Department of Paediatrics. The clinical professor will receive secretarial or technical support equivalent to 50 % of a full-time secretary position from the Department of Clinical Research, SDCC. Additional support and details on the working conditions must be negotiated with the Head of the Department of Clinic, SDCC.
